Cookies
The short version: one analytics tool, only if you say yes.
We use one thing that is not strictly necessary: Google Analytics, to count visits. It only runs if you click Accept. Say no and nothing from Google is loaded at all.
What is stored, and for how long
| Name | What for | Set by | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
bb_consent |
Remembers whether you said yes or no, so we do not ask on every page. Strictly necessary; stored in your browser, never sent to us. | Us | 12 months, then we ask again |
_ga |
Tells one visit from another, so a page read twice by one person counts as one visitor. Only if you accept. | 2 years | |
_ga_ZR2Z9B84JV |
Keeps track of the current visit. Only if you accept. | 2 years |
What we do with it
We see totals: how many visits, which pages, which country, which site sent you here. We do not see who you are, and we have switched off Google's advertising features and its cross-device tracking (Google signals), so none of this is used to show you ads, here or anywhere else.
Google processes the data for us under its data processing terms. Some of it may be handled in the United States; the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which Google is certified under. We keep the reports for 14 months. More in the privacy notice.
Changing your mind
Say yes or no at any time, as easily as the first time. If you said yes and now say no, we delete Google's cookies from your browser straight away.
What the server sees anyway
Serving a web page requires receiving a request, and that request contains your IP address and browser. Our server logs it briefly for security. That is not a cookie, nothing is stored on your device, and it is not used to identify or follow you.
When you buy something
Payment happens on Stripe's checkout page, and Stripe sets its own strictly necessary cookies there to run the payment securely and prevent fraud. Those are exempt from consent, because without them the thing you asked for cannot happen, and they are not used for advertising.
